The WRSS' Future Talent Programme is a professional development centre for the England FA's DNA 'Foundation Phase'. We will be concentrating our first season of the programme on children aged 7-11 years of age.

The 2017/18 programme will run for 40 weeks per season and will be something which runs ALONGSIDE YOUR GRASSROOTS CLUB i.e. Your child does not have to give up their club to join us. The 40 weeks will be from October to July (10 months) and will run term time with the odd exception of running a session in the holiday/half term period.

Your child will develop through our detailed and unique coaching syllabus for 1 hour p/week. We will also look to play fixtures against other professional club academies and private development centres throughout the season in the holiday periods. The coaching syllabus has been created by the 4 coaches listed below and headed by a highly regarded, international sports coach who also is a senior lecturer in sport at Brookes University.

Your child will only train on artificial surfaces (3G or astro-turf pitches) - This helps to bridge the gap between grassroots clubs and professional academies. We will also provide 2 progress reports throughout the season.

The programme is designed to be elite: with detailed plans, enthusiastic coaches and elite facilities to give your child the best opportunity to flourish and to match standards set in professional club academies. This does not mean we will put any undue pressure upon children or create an atmosphere where they no longer enjoy their football. We will continue to work under our engaging philosophy and behaviour management structure which we would use in any school etc.

To top it all off: We are working hard to bring exit routes for children to join a professional academy. We are currently in discussions with a very illustrious professional club about creating a partnership together in which they will be able to send scouts to watch our fixtures and training sessions. They will be looking to provide many benefits to us and our players in exchange for first refusal on any players from our programme who they believe are ready for the academy set-up. This is a very exciting proposition which we can hopefully add to the programme very soon.

To join the programme: Your child can join the programme at any time during the season. Your child either attends a trial day and will be offered a place, be hand selected from one of our coaches who may be watching your child's grassroots fixture or hand selected from one of our many after school clubs, holiday courses or weekend classes. There may be other avenues we can explore for your child to join our programme - If you express an interest in your child joining our programme (by contacting us) we will do what we can to achieve this!
